This Friday, I’m off work. So I’m sat on the couch for some alone time, drink in hand and TV on. What am I watching? Greys Anatomy!
Did you just laugh out loud or seem surprised? I know. After all, the series premiered
So I’m super late. Almost 15 years since its first season.
I don’t watch much TV — for a lot of reasons. Sometimes I don’t actually know how to use my TV (fun fact: my two-year-old does and he’s somewhat led me to the right buttons). Sometimes I can’t find my glasses and so can’t really see the TV. Other times I’m so busy it seems like a waste of time to just sit for hours, and sometimes I don’t know what to watch. On a few occasions, I’m spoilt for choice and so end up watching nothing.
But one thing I’m deciding to do more these days is actually relax. And Tola’s idea of relaxing, is drink in hand and watching TV. Despite his rather busy schedule, he still finds time to watch loads of TV (I’m sure the flexibility in his schedule allows for that).
The only series we may have watched together ever is Breaking Bad. And now that there’s a sequel about Jesse Pinkman, he’s already on to that. But I couldn’t be bothered. He’s also currently watching season 2 of Riviera. We kind of watched season 1 together but I’ve totally forgotten everything that happened. And maybe that’s another reason it’s hard to keep up. So much happens between seasons that I’m constantly wondering “Who is this? What’s happening?”
I only recently finished Jane the Virgin, but it was so easy to keep track of. I’ve started some really popular ones in the past — Scandal, Suits, How To Get Away With Murder (HTGAWM), but I can’t think of many I’ve really followed through on. My most recent trials were Greenleaf and The Crown. I enjoyed them — but failed to go back when the new seasons began.
And no, I haven’t watched Game of Thrones. But neither has Tola. It seems way too late for us to catch up with the hype.
So why Grey’s Anatomy now? I’m not exactly sure. I hear it is one of those really good classic ones with die hard fans. Or perhaps it’s better seen in retrospect. Just the way I enjoyed Friends so much after Tola got the box set (which is a perfect gift for any fan!) and I could watch it all at a go!
Before getting the Friends box set, I’d seen bits and pieces of it. A close friend at Uni who was in medical school used to binge on it, so I’d often watch one or two episodes. I also recently read Shonda Rhimes’ Year of Yes. She’s the brain behind Scandal, HTGAWM and Grey’s Anatomy. The various and often heartfelt allusions to the latter makes it seem like I’d love it. And Sandra Oh, aka Cristina Yang seems
So yeah, I’m about to dive in.
Are you a Greys Anatomy fan? Did you watch it and would you recommend it? Please share your all-time favourite TV Series to binge on. I’d love to hear.

October 4, 2019 at 12:11Huge huge huge fan of Grey’s Anatomy! I hear on on not watching much TV. I’m the exact way too. But it can be good relaxation, when you can spare the time.
I also find that I abandon a lot of series half way, just because I lose interest. But I get stuck on crime and police TV shows…Criminals Minds, Rookie Blue, Rizzoli and Isles et al.
Enjoy GA! Welcome to the fan club

October 4, 2019 at 12:17I started watching Grey’s Anatomy earlier this year after all the plenty hype. I was so stuck and couldn’t go beyond season 9. I got tired after all my favs started dying or leaving the show plus it was stretching far too much. How can one Series get to 15?! I got bored, probably because I was binge watching.
Hopefully, when I run out of shows to see on Netflix, I can go back to it. But I’m sure you will enjoy it. I’m a die hard movie fan and I have a long list of series/movies to see.

October 4, 2019 at 12:38OMG I’m only just watching Grey’s Anatomy too, thanks to Amazon prime video. I’m on season 12 now and absolutely love it! I actually prefer to watch shows when the hype has died down and all the episodes are available so I can binge!
I watch a lot of series and I have an eclectic mix of faves: Doctor Who, Call the Midwife, The Originals, 24, Breaking Bad, Prison Break, Sex and the City, Game of Thrones, The Handmaid’s Tale…just too many to mention. Already searching for my next one once I finish GA.
Enjoy!!

October 4, 2019 at 13:25So GA season 1-5 is so so amazing! But after season 5 it’s just a downward spiral. so i’d say go for it but don’t have much expectations beyond season 5. Happy viewing!

October 6, 2019 at 06:17I forgot to add that I’m not really a TV person myself – i’d rather read a book or press phone! That being said, I loved loved The Big Bang theory! I almost cried when it ended. Asides friends, it’s the only series that made me laugh. Modern family was funny in season one but just became dry afterwards. I love the good doctor, this is us and parenthood (before it ended). Also loved switched at birth before it ended. And surprisingly america’s Next top model! It legit used to be the highlight of my Wednesdays back then. You should check these out if you get the time. Happy viewing!

October 4, 2019 at 14:13Haha welcome to the fan club! I’m not a TV person either and I hate keeping up with series. I just feel I have better things to do than watch some make believe stuff 😂😂😂😂 because my 24 hours isn’t enough yet. I started watching Greys when they were on Season 6 I think and I binge watched from 1-6 in a week or so. Was jobless and it was 2014 😂😂😂😂😂. Since then, I haven’t looked back. The new season just started last week and I missed yesterday’s episode but will catch up before next week. I used to watch HTGAWM but they lost me at S4 🤷♀️🤷♀️ I do not like when series are too long but somehow I have been able to stick with Greys and that’s the only show I consistently watch. I watched Power from 1-4, binged through too but yet to catch up on 5$6, maybe I will when the show is over. I watch Insecure on TV and they’re out this year so I’m waiting till they get back. Never watched Game of Thrones either and I don’t think I’m missing out on anything.
I like that some of these shows are on Netflix though because I think that one day I’ll be miraculously free and will binge on every show I want. Haha!
Ok gotta go now!

October 4, 2019 at 14:16Oh I also think it’s time to wrap it up on Greys tbh. Getting tired of it. I do not like series getting too long!!! What!! Lool #okbye

October 4, 2019 at 18:09I’ve really enjoyed Grey’s over the years. I think it’s definitely good binge watching material! I got attached to the characters for sure.
Though I like TV (watched exclusively on a laptop) I agree that it can be so hard to devote all that time to it. There are some shows I like whose new seasons I haven’t started yet because I just won’t make time.
Some top favorites – The Office, Friends, Parks and Recreation, Parenthood, Friday Night Lights and Madmen.
P.s you should totally get back on The Crown!!

October 4, 2019 at 18:15Two of my close friends rave so much about Greys but I’ve never even checked it out because yeah there’s so much to watch yet so little time.
I’d watch Friends time and time again, as I have all 10 seasons and it is forever a classic. I started watching suits last year I think and I loved it, I’m yet to see Season 9. Breaks my heart though that all these series have to end. I can’t deal especially when I’ve held on to the characters for so long.

October 7, 2019 at 00:41This is one of the best decisions you have ever made. Grey’s Anatomy is the real deal! Sometimes I wonder what else people look forward to apart from an episode of Grey’s on Thursday night ( mainly Friday morning in the UK), coz as for me, myself and I, Grey’s tops my list.
In between seasons’, I binge watch previous seasons that I enjoyed.
You will love it . Karibu(welcome) to the squad!

October 8, 2019 at 03:57I absolutely LOVE LOVE Grey’s Anatomy! Die hard fan here, Started watching from day one! I binge watch it yearly from season one, It’s my go to feel good tv show. Totally recommend it. Started watching Money Heist but stop after season 2 as i lost interest after the first robbery(and honestly i started dreaming i was part of the cast, robbing banks and stuff..lol). It’s a good one tho. The good Doctor, Queen of the South, Greenleaf, Quantico, Jane the Virgin, Schitts Creek are some really good ones i’ve seen. Oh and a bunch of baking/cooking shows on netfilx.
PS. Love this new layout. It’s beautiful, well done.

October 15, 2019 at 19:13I started watching Grey’s anatomy 10years ago and I’m still hooked! I tell people to watch it and they think only doctors will enjoy it even though it’s more drama than medicine.hehe
HTGAWM lost me last season but I enjoyed it while I could.
Hawaii five-0 is still a fave for me…so is modern family!
Jane the virgin was fun to watch too but I’m not sure about this season.
Black-ish is soooooo good!!! Highly recommended

October 17, 2019 at 15:27Welcome to Grey’s Anatomy family. It’s going to be a long ride with lots of ups and downs, but we are always there to help each other through bad times.
I hope you enjoy the series. It’s one of my favourite shows ever makes me feel like a doctor.

October 18, 2019 at 08:07I must say you have a really good taste for TV series. Like mehn, those you mentioned up there are top league. I just picked interest in medical series. I like to live in their world wishing we could have such good system as portrayed in the movies in Nigeria. Started with The Good Doctor, now I’ve successfully binge- watched The Resident. Was thinking of watching Grey’s Anatomy but mehn, 16 seasons?!!!!🤦♀️. Maybe I’ll try watch it. My favourite series after Prison Break and 24 has to be Suits. And it’s a pity it has ended 😔

December 14, 2019 at 22:58Awesome! I’m a big fan of Grey’s Anatomy!! I’m a Day 1 fan (I started watching it on French TV when my family and I lived in francophone countries) and never miss an episode! The series has gone through ups and downs (some storylines make no sense….) but overall it’s still one of my favorite shows and I’m so happy that it keeps getting renewed. I think you’ll enjoy it if you stick with it – happy watching! | http://www.lorikemi.com
