A couple of weeks ago, Tee and I had lunch in a pretty cozy Thai restaurant In London. Even though I work in the capital city, we live outside of it. So when he happens to be in the area we try to meet up for food or drinks. On this occasion I said to him “come over and let me buy you lunch”! He was pretty starving, so jumped at the offer – which was quite generous on my part don’t you think? Especially as I had free lunch at work that day.

Okay, back to wish lists.

During lunch (my chicken curry had way too many stripes of ginger)  he asked what was on my Christmas wish list and I realised I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted. Particularly because he wasn’t exactly offering a blank cheque to me. We also noted the fact that some people actually got their wish lists fulfilled because they shared with friends and even on social media. Yay for Secret Santas!

During a casual conversation with my colleague, she mentioned that her children basically gave her their Christmas lists and she had managed to buy almost everything they asked for.

Even though her littlest child later requested that she bring the list back from Santa because he wanted to include some more items! Oh the joys of being a child. If only we could simply give our lists to people and just look forward to opening up our presents.

Although it’s just about a week to Christmas and chances are rather slim, we thought we’ll give it a shot. Who knows. Some reader with itchy fingers may just be looking to send us nicely packed gifts! Plus remember that time I got orchestra tickets by simply asking!

So starting with Tee:

1.    The new BMW 5 series

He actually said 3 different colours of this will not be too much. He’s pretty in love with the car unlike me who went to the BMW show house and still really didn’t see what the fuss is all about. I mean I’m still struggling to get a UK drivers license. How much more be obsessed about cars.

2.    A  briefcase / work bag

I think there’s something about a man with a really fancy briefcase! So right now that’s on the list. To be fair all of his previous ones have been gifts to him – from me! As a student I started with a high street piece, then the next one was slightly better quality and the third was another level of designer – which well, hasn’t lasted as much we hoped. Now, it’s understandable that he wants a luxury one!

3.     Wristwatch

I’m not surprised this made the list. When we met, he was so obsessed with wristwatches and had quite a number. And it was possibly his favourite gift to get for me. He once slipped a brand new watch into my denim side pockets and continued buying all of my watches after that! Apparently I even wrote an article about all the times he got me watched and titled it  “The Watch Fairy”. I didn’t think anyone ever saw it, but when I started blogging, my sister said to me “well not surprised…you’ve always loved writing. I remember that your watch fairy article”. *Gasps!* What else had she read?!

I also remember during our long distance relationship he sent through a really cute pink watch with a hand written note, and personalised birthday cards. Good times.

Well the jinx was broken couple of years ago when I got myself a watch for the first time in a long time!

I know I’ve digressed a lot. But can I just share this. Once I misplaced the wristwatch my mum got me and she said “Well that’s the last watch I’m getting for you. Maybe your husband will buy the next one”. Strangely, the next wrist watch I had was the Casio watch Tee slipped into my pocket. I recall remembering my mum’s words at that point and thinking “is this my husband?”. I was almost afraid to receive it.

So yes, there’s power in the tongue!

4. Perfume

This is the scent of the moment so as the current bottle comes to an end a refill is needed. Like he for my watches, I’ve just always bought his perfumes (and I don’t think there’s been a jinx!).

I recall once he was heading back to the UK, and I was so excited about the One Million Paco Rabanne perfume I got, plus my handwritten notes saying mushy stuff that could have been related to one of us being one in a million. It was all nicely wrapped and was supposed to be a surprise. But he got to the airport late, couldn’t check in his bag and had to travel with only a hand luggage. That obviously meant the 100ml perfume couldn’t go with him and had to be shipped later. Surprise ruined!

Phew, finally the end.

As I’ve said before buying men’s gifts is so easy. Bet you’ll have guessed all of this – and of course they are all listed in my comprehensive guide post!

And now Me…

Coming up with a list for myself was slightly difficult. It’s kind of like: I want everything, but I really do not desperately want anything. Not sure if that makes sense. But let’s stick to this four.

1. Black Structured Tote Bag

I’m not usually a fan of black bags, but I feel it’s one of those things one should have. So yes, this is top of the list. I’ll also love a smaller sling bag.

2. Fitness Everything!

2016 was the warm up honestly. I’m sort of pleased I at least started to make an attempt, So next year I have to take it up a notch. And to do that I need the whole range. From the items pictured above to others such as work out clothing and new trainers. Oh and if anyone is planning to get the dumb bells, recall that time I got the 2kg ones to work on my bingo wings (flabby arms). Well those are a little too comfy now, so I’m thinking of getting a 3 or 4 kg one!

3. Coloured Glasses

Till I switch to contacts, I’m stuck with glasses and I want red ones! Other bright colours are also welcome. You can also send some sunglasses my way. I won’t say No.

4. The HP Sprocket

This is more out of curiosity. I think it’s such a great device. It allows you to print photos off your social media and I’ll love to see how it works! (If you work with HP, pull some strings and feel free to send me one!)

That’s it. Short and Sweet.

But my real list is technically unending. I mentioned at lunch that hair wigs were on my wish list and his response was “sorry I can’t get you that“. I’m sure he rolled his eyes in his mind too.

So yes. Wigs, Jewellery, Kitchen Items, Clothes, Shoes, Books, Makeup. I don’t think any gift would be a fail for me right now.

Oh and of course the one item still missing from my tech wish list – a Camera.

What’s on your Christmas wish list? If you’ve blogged about it – leave us a link and we could pass it on to Santa! Have you received any surprise gifts?

Love,
Kachee… Xx

pS: Hands up if you still pronounced Thai with a “th”. It’s actually pronounced as ‘Tai’ and my Frolleague pointed that out to me!

ppS: I was just about to hit publish when I realised I forgot the one item I really wanted. A Sewing Machine! I need to get started on learning these skills, as mentioned in this very popular letter to my younger self
