This post is pretty much a Jord Wood Watch review.
But more importantly, I’m excited that one lucky reader gets a chance to win a pretty watch from JORD. And if they pick the same one as I did, then maybe we can be watch twins! Although I can almost guarantee that they’d have a tough time picking (as I did!) – because JORD has so many beautiful wood watches.
I’m not much of an accessory person, and can go for weeks without earrings (especially when I have my hair covering my ears). Necklaces often hurt my neck and so I don’t even bother. While I do love bangles, I just forget to buy them or wear them.
But a good watch I love! And I totally feel incomplete without one. So I’m sure to wear a watch all the time. Plus I think it’s always a great gift, that you can hardly go wrong with.
I also love watches that are very versatile and can be worn with almost anything, and that
So when I got an email from JORD asking if I’d like to receive one of their watches, I was like “Woohoo, yes please!”
But I didn’t just accept because it was a freebie. Interestingly, and a few weeks before the email came through, I had been seeing JORD watches everywhere. It was almost like many bloggers around me had one. I had even entered a giveaway to win one! I didn’t win, sadly, but the universe still smiled at me and I got a free one.
It also helped that in sending the email Tony from JORD watches said ‘I absolutely LOVE YOUR BLOG and would like to send you one of our time
In their words, “we are focused on creating timepieces that are modelled after a modern lifestyle”. All of their watches are made from natural wood. This also means that no two time
I shared how tough it was for me to pick one out of the options I was presented with. And my family members and friends can testify – as I sent them photos of all of the watches asking for their opinion. This only made it worse – as everyone seemed to fall in love with different ones and we couldn’t reach a consensus.
At the end of the day, I settled for the Fieldcrest Maple. I wanted something round face, and since I already have a dark brown watch, I opted for a lighter wood.
Now the sizing of the watch, I was very particular about. Especially after I read someone’s experience of how he sent them the wrong wrist size and the watch that was returned couldn’t even fit a 5 year old! But thankfully, JORD have a true to scale tape measure on the website which you can easily print off, and wrap around your wrist to get the ideal size. This was easy peasy and I sent through my size (16cm in case you need some guidance or need to ever send me a watch!). I was also particular of the sizing because I didn’t want to have it amended – and have to spend approx. £10.
While I received the sizing complementary, it costs just $10 to have them do it for you. In the alternative, if you live somewhere where your local jeweler could do it for less, there’s always that option!
The good news people is that they ship to every destination, free of charge (this would take 2 – 4 weeks, but you could pay for expedited shipping if you want it sooner!) And in my case, shipping was fast considering it was arriving from the United States. It took just about a week. But there was a custom tax of £13.30 to pay before it could be released. So while this doesn’t happen all the time, goods coming into the UK from the US are sometimes taxed. JORD very kindly re-imbursed me for this expense.
The watch arrived in a very sturdy wooden case (go figure!) and with the extra links included (thank goodness, because who wants to lose a watch because they put on a little more flesh?) . It also comes with a cleaning cloth, and wood polisher which I haven’t used, but I understand helps in polishing the watch.
For something made of wood, it’s not heavy on the wrist at all. It fits my purpose of being able to wear it every day with most casual items of clothing.
It is splash proof, so I don’t have to take it off when doing dishes. Since it’s not fully water proof, I wouldn’t wear it to have a shower or swim!
In a nutshell, I love the watch. I love that it’s unique. I love that each watch can be personalised, either at the back of the watch or on the wooden box. And I particularly love this one I picked and the way it contrasts against my skin.
So that’s my Jord wood watch review!
I’m pretty sure you love it too by this point. And this is the bit you’ve been waiting for. So here’s the chance for one person to win a free watch pretty much. Ok technically, you win a $100 voucher. But considering my watch cost $130 – that’s only $30 away. And with free shipping, it’s a win. If you want something more expensive, you can pay the balance as well.
So enter the giveaway here by simply filling in your name, email address and your preferred watch. You can check out their men shop here and the women shop here.
I hope someone who really wants it wins, but there’s still something for all as everyone who enters gets a $25 voucher. Still good yeah?
Let me know what you think of these wooden watches! Which would you have gone for and who would you like to gift one?
Love,
Kachee… Xx

May 18, 2017 at 12:09I danced in here when I saw giveaway! Hahahahahaha…the truth is I love watches so much but I’ve never been able to afford the ones I really loved, so I always end up window shopping them and wishing someone could gift me one one day. I love this color you selected- Fieldcrest Maple! What a name, I have really never seen a watch made of wood. And if I would love to gift someone, I wouldn’t mind saving my last Naira to gift to myself for my next birthday next month…Good review, Kachee!
