A friend Wumi recently tweeted that she was going to be so extra for her pre-wedding, wedding and her pregnancy photoshoots. I replied to her tweet saying I didn’t know how to be extra even I wanted to. Then she said “… but you know you’re low key extra with your husband“. Another mutual friend Nims replied saying, “more like
I was about to contest Wumi’s opinion but then thought, “well she qualified it by saying low key extra“, so that’s probably correct. For example, I’d always prefer an usie photo to a selfie or personal photo, and I love all those super cute things couples do that can be somewhat cheesy. But I don’t think I’ll go over the top.
Take the issue of twinning and matching outfits for example. High key extra is where couples wear the same kind of outfits often – especially where it’s the same fabric or design of clothing. Uhmm. I’m definitely not into that. But then I do often like the idea of a subtle twinning. So perhaps like wearing somewhat similar colours. Or Christmas jumpers, like we did in this post. Or again, like wearing the same watch!
So when JORD watches asked if I would love another watch, as the low key extra wife that I am, I asked if I could have a masculine one for Tee instead! Because he really liked my wood watch (see detailed review here) and I had considered getting him one as a gift. He’s very into watches and had loads when we started dating! Somehow the number of his watches just seemed to reduce with time. (I tease him that more responsibilities push watches
Anyway, JORD very kindly agreed that I could have a masculine one.
And they asked Tee to send his top 5 choices from their men’s collection. Rather interestingly, (and unlike me) he knew exactly what he wanted. While I took ages to decide from their women’s shop (as I wanted everything!), he couldn’t even make a top 5 list. It’s pretty much the same way I take forever to order a meal, he orders straight up and I still prefer his choice of food.
So, although he wanted a chronograph watch, the available ones seemed to have a smaller face which he wasn’t a huge fan of. His obvious choice was therefore the Hyde Series – Stacked Sandal Wood of Olive With Ivory.
We also sent through his wrist size – 19cm. He was actually pretty excited and considered it a worthy gift for often helping with proofreading my blog posts.
Again the watch arrived in a couple of weeks, but just like in my case, there was a customs charge of £15 payable on it – as it was shipped from the US. We also realised that it hadn’t actually been sized as well, so I got this done at our local jeweller for just £5. JORD very kindly refunded the £20.
The watch arrived in the wooden box, with the cleaning fabrics, polisher and a manual.
We both really liked the simple time face, the fact that it showed the date, and was dark brown. Again just like mine, it’s made of natural wood but it’s surprisingly super light! I’ve already listed all the reasons I love JORD in my initial review and that hasn’t changed. I’ve had mine for about 6 months now, and pretty much wear it everyday.
So we’re confident that for Tee, it’s going to be the same, accompany him everywhere and has already quite made it to the list of his favourite things.
So yes, I’m looking forward to us wearing our JORD wood watches often and using the hashtag #Twinning. Haha!
JORD is giving away $100 voucher to one lucky person. If you’d love a JORD wood watch for yourself or as a gift to someone special then you should totally enter. But be mindful that you will have to pay up the balance. That said watches start from $139 so that’s a very generous discount! Asides this one lucky winner, everyone gets $25 off their purchase. There’s free worldwide delivery and for that personal touch, JORD is able to offer engraved messages. They could also adjust the wrist to your desired size for only $10.
The giveaway ends on October the 15th at 11:59 pm. Both the $100 and the $25 codes will expire on 12/31/2017.
What are your thoughts on couple twinning? Are you more or likely to be high key extra or low key extra on this and in your relationship?
pS: Is it just me that thinks it’s funny how our watch matches our complexion? Dark brown for him and light for me?

I wouldn’t mind wearing the same watch or even cologne with my boyfriend. So yes, I’m #TeamTwinning to an extent. However, I don’t fancy wearing the same material(called “Andco” in these parts).I really love these JORD watches, but I just did a lil math with the prices and I’m like why is life laidis? Anyway, I’ve pinned it somewhere in my to-have list once my bank balance wakes up.P.S. I noticed the matching complexion too, but right after you mentioned it **smiles**

I just LOVE how beautiful you both are together, your hands too! LOLI think it’s a bit nauseating when couples twin TOO MUCH. Like, my guy, we already know this is your wife na. lol.On the other hand, subtle, occasional twinning can be cute. I like a man who doesn’t mind being ‘a little silly’ with his wife. Plus at the end of the day, “Is it ya twinning?” Lol. I’d definitely be low key with my husband (wherever he may be now, rme).

Hahaha. No, it’s just not you. I noticed and before coming up with a protest (in my head), I settled for the complexion match. 😀

I had the same thought in mind(your watches matching your complexion) before I read it. It’s cute! Looks deliberate. I’m in between low key extra and not being extra at all. I’d rather have our outfits coordinating in some way, except it’s an Aso ebi or sth of sort. I could blame it on my introvertedness. But having the same accessory isn’t bad at all, I could show that off. But my relationship? Well except we’re married.tinukeawe.wordpress.com

Jord Watches look soo good! But as a semi-broke Nigerian girl, my account will not let me be great.Honestly, I think couple-twinning is so cute with other people, but personally, I would probably end up as a low-key one. I noticed the complexion matching actually.www.desireuba.wordpress.com

Lol! Not even the same watch? This one isn’t that obvious now…

I’m really not a fan of twinning regardless of how subtle it is…..even the mother-daughter/ father-son twinning cringes me out.But to each his own. As long as the couple is happy with their twinning decision.
