In last days of 2016, and one of the rare occasions where I managed to watched some TV, the top trends and events of 2016 were being analysed. No surprises, that in relation to lifestyle, healthy living and fitness was highly ranked – with people looking for quicker (but effective) work out routines and recipes! In relation to Beauty & Fashion, the concept of ‘contouring’ took the world by storm in 2016 as contour kits and brushes, for many beauty lines became their best selling products.

I wasn’t particularly sure I wanted to do a recap post. But since I’ve done these monthly recaps from April – November, I thought why not do one for the entire year.?

Personally, 2016 will go down as the year I decided to do more, give more and experience more.

I didn’t exactly write out in a journal my hopes for 2016. But I wrote them out on my phone. I wanted to start a YouTube channel, (or just have a platform to speak). I wanted to pass my driving test, and learn to swim. I wanted to give back, make an impact on someone’s life somehow. I wanted to get into a healthier lifestyle, shed a few Kgs and fit exercise into my routine. I wanted to travel to at least one country I’d never been. I wanted a deeper relationship with God.

No YouTube channel, but this blog happened. And for the amazing people I’ve connected, and the ability to inspire and impact others I’ll forever be thankful to 2016. It’s given me the opportunity to do much more than I ever thought i could – and I’m aware that this is just a starting point.

I also organised and co- hosted the a CV & Career workshop which was incredibly fulfilling. I joined a fitness group and I actually shed a couple of kgs! I may have gained it all back with the festive eating – so that’ll just on to the 2017 goal list. Again!.  Still food & fitness related, 2016 is  the year I discovered Bulgur and thought “finally a substitute to rice!”.  And it’s the year I finally decided to buy a proper electric tooth brush.

2016 is the year I failed my driving test 3 times – making it the somewhat hardest thing I’ve ever had to learn. But then, it’s the year I learnt to jump rope.

We didn’t travel to a new country but at least I finally ticked the tourist spot of Olumo Rock in Nigeria off my list, found an exciting beach resort in Lagos and explored St. Ives, Cornwall in the UK. After a horrible experience of not getting a UAE visa in April, we also managed to have a trip there in November!

And yes, my relationship with God definitely improved!

2016 didn’t exactly gone according to plan. There’s been fears and tears. But they’ve been answered prayers, exciting moments and incredible happiness with friends and family.

Overall, It’s been such a springboard year!

I’m genuinely excited for 2017. I simply want to Be More. Take Chances. Give Back. Be Happy. Make an Impact. Help others. Make Money (hey that’s very important too!).

So I’ve taken the time to write some of my hopes in a journal, and here’s some of them!

  • Fully understand the logic behind reversing a car and pass my driving test.
  • Learn to swim
  • Buy a sewing machine and learn to sew something.
  • Professional growth as a Lawyer. Host / organise more career related workshops, seminars or something of that sort – either online or in person.
  • Figure out what exactly is going on with my natural hair and how to take care of it.  Find the makeup and beauty routine that works for me. Visit the dentist, to get my teeth straightened maybe.
  • Get fit – by eating healthier and exercising.
  • Read books. Good books. Minimum of 2 a month.
  • Go back to being a Lector at Church (people who say the readings from the bible)
  • Journal daily

These are a few personal goals. I’ll share some of the blog goals in a separate post. Between Tee and I, there are a few joint goals as well.

It’s 3 days into 2017, 362 to go!

Let’s make each day count. It’s the year to do EPIC stuff, with God’s help.

Have an exciting, incredible, positive and goal-crushing 2017!

What are you looking forward to in 2017?

Love,

Kachee.. Xx

Happy new year Kachi! Oh wow, you’re a lector too! That’s so good to know. I promised God I’d go back to being a lector when our church building is finally completed. I’ve really missing the altar. Hmmm…this driving test ehn. Since I bashed my brother’s car when I was learning like 3 years ago, I just gave up. I can relate with the reversing ish and all that. Good luck with it this year. Your 2016 wasn’t bad at all. I’m glad you started a blog coz you’ve got really inspiring and fun articles which I absolutely enjoy. I hope all your goals and plans come to life this year. Cheers!Evita In Progress

I’m a lector and I’ve missed it so much since law school! Time to get back. I bashed my mum’s car too while reverse parking. But I think I’m over the fear, I just need to be patient! Thank you for reading the blog! and have an amazing 2017 yourself!

I laughed @ you gained all back with the festive eating. #thechristmasandnewyeareffect. I dropped out from driving school last year and its one of my goal to get my driving license this year. By fire by force! We have similar goals, I wanna learn to swim, drive, ride a bicycle, grow spiritually, blog consistently, make money, buy a car, read one book a month and ‘hopefully’ loose the weight I have been trying to loose for the past 5 years. This weight loss is a constant new year resolution..lol. I must put the devil to shame this year o!!!! I hope and pray that God grants us the grace to achieve our goals. Amen. 5 things to consider before you start a blog http://www.tegaenai.com
